Mission Statement
Forensic Research Associates aim to deliver impartial and rigorous forensic analysis, making full use of our expertise in phonetics (auditory and acoustic), phonology and other areas of linguistics, including language variation and change, as well as our experience in the forensic application of this expertise.
Our reports are compiled in cognizance of the limitations imposed on forensic analysis by the variability of the speech signal, by analysis technology, by the absence of comprehensive phonetic population statistics, and by the quality and quantity of the recordings under analysis.
We draw particular attention to the fact that voices have not been proven to be unique; and that voice comparison can therefore never result in 100% positive identification.
We adhere to the Code of Practice outlined by the International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics.
